Advocating for Your Own Best Health Care

Our Centre conducts research and does not have a roster of clinicians who see patients. Getting the help you need starts with learning about and recording what is happening to you. Use the Daily Diary© and Ovulation Tracker tools to record your cycle and experiences, noting when symptoms occur or worsen.
When you are speaking with a health care professional, it helps to have a record of what has
occurred over one or (better) several months or menstrual cycles. Self-report is always strengthened by this type of record-keeping. Reviewing the Diary will help you to recognize in yourself the patterns or associations of symptoms to different times in your menstrual cycle.
Look at the Resources on this website, print the ones which speak most clearly to your situation – discuss them and your Diary with your health care professional at your next visit. If your health care professional doesn’t want more paper, ask them if you can forward the Resource link to them in an email!
After a seeing you and discussing your concerns, they may have further questions about an appropriate course of action for your treatment. Ask their office to call us and make an appointment for a practitioner telephone consultation.
We do not charge a fee for this service. To help us further our research and continue providing information to women worldwide, donations are gratefully received.
Don’t be surprised if your family doctor, specialist or other practitioner has not come across many of the concepts in our research. Though they have been well-researched and documented, most are still not being taught in the regular tertiary healthcare curriculum. By introducing these ideas to your practitioner, you’ll be advocating for yourself and other similar women to follow.
